About

Where It All Began

A Vision Born from a Common Passion

Dancirque Physical Therapy has been committed to helping artists around San Diego since it was established in 2020. When Lexii Alcaraz pursued her doctoral degree in Physical Therapy, she was training full-time and performing as a circus acrobat and dancer. At the time, there were no specialized physical therapists in the San Diego area dedicated to performing arts. Dancirque PT was established to fill this gap and ensure that performing artists in the San Diego area have access to specialized care from previous artists who understand the physical and mental demands of working to bring stage productions to life.

We have worked with artists ranging from teen students to older adults on maintaining their artistry and keeping their bodies as healthy as possible. Our specialty treatment areas include circus ground acrobatics, aerial arts, musical theatre, dance, theatre, vocal performance, and music. We use our in-depth understanding of these fields to target artists as complex individuals with individual needs.

Our previous clients include the The Old Globe Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, 7 Doigts de la Main, San Diego Circus Center, Malashock Dance, and various touring Broadway productions and performers. Allow us to help you understand your body so you can focus on your art.

Our Founder

Lexii Alcaraz

Physical Therapist, PT, DPT

Lexii Alcaraz is a licensed physical therapist who is passionate about all aspects of performing arts. She has many years of experience as a professional circus artist, coach, choreographer, and director. When Lexii decided to pursue her degree as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, she knew she wanted to use this knowledge to help advance the training and performance careers of artists. She integrates her knowledge of circus acrobatics, music, theatre, and dance to create custom treatment plans for individuals to help reach their goals and address any underlying injuries that may stand in their way.

With her understanding of the demands of different disciplines in the performing arts world and her knowledge surrounding anatomy and biomechanics, she is able to develop training programs that compliment each artist’s regimen to ultimately enhance performance and longevity throughout artists’ careers. Lexii continues to perform and create work in her hometown of San Diego. Professionally, she has toured across North America performing and is the artistic director of San Diego-based circus company Lighthouse Circus Theatre. Lexii looks forward to her next opportunity to be onstage and help others do the same.
